Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 August 2026
VisitXian (visitxian.cn) is an independent travel guide. This page explains, in plain language, what data the site collects when you read it, why we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. The short version: we run standard analytics cookies, we keep what you send us if you contact or subscribe, we do not sell your data, and we plan to run advertising in the future — the advertising section below explains what that changes.
What we collect
Reading the site: standard analytics (see the next section) and the server logs kept by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, for security and abuse prevention. Contacting us: if you use the contact form or write to hi@visitxian.cn, we keep your message and email address so we can reply and follow up on corrections. Subscribing: if you subscribe to the newsletter, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe — every email we send carries an unsubscribe link. That is the whole list: the site has no accounts, no logins and no user profiles.
Cookies & analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which guides are read and how people move through the site, so we can improve them. GA4 sets a small number of cookies (identifiers such as _ga), which involves transferring data such as your IP address — truncated by Google where the law requires it — to Google. You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings at any time without losing access to any part of the site. Google's own practices and privacy tools are described at policies.google.com/privacy.
Advertising
The site is currently ad-free. We may display advertising in the future through providers such as Google AdSense. When that happens, those providers may use cookies or similar technologies to show you ads based on your visits to this and other sites, and this page will be updated with provider-specific information before the first ad appears. You can already opt out of personalized advertising through Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) and through your browser's cookie controls.
Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or anywhere the GDPR applies, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know, delete, and opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell your personal information, and we will not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising without updating this page first. Exercising any of these rights is free and never reduces your access to the site. To use them, email hi@visitxian.cn or write via the contact page; we answer within 30 days.
How long we keep data
Analytics data is retained for at most 14 months. Emails and messages you send us are kept for as long as needed to handle your request, plus a reasonable period afterwards in case of follow-up. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. After that, they are deleted.
Children
The site is a general-audience travel guide and is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the European Union. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When our practices change, we update this page and the date at the top of it. If a change materially affects your rights, we will say so prominently on the site before it takes effect.
Contact
