How we verify everything

Trust is the product. This page is the public version of the rulebook our editors work to.

How pages stay current

Travel rules in China change fast — visa policies, booking systems, prices, hours. Our editors re-check pages against official sources on a rolling schedule, and update them when something changes. The cadence depends on the page:

  • Quarterly — visas & entry, payments, internet/VPNs, transport, ticket-booking rules, and every major attraction.
  • Every 6 months — where to stay, apps, health & safety, family and accessibility guides.
  • Annually — weather, etiquette, language, holiday crowd calendars.

Policy-sensitive pages (visas, payments, bookings) always name and link the official source, and always carry "check before you fly" language — because the official word, not ours, is the one that counts at the border.

Sourcing rules

  • Logistics claims (prices, hours, booking rules) come from official channels — attraction websites and WeChat accounts, 12306, airport and metro operators — or first-hand verification. Never from other travel blogs.
  • Policy-sensitive claims (entry rules, payment procedures) always name and link the official source, and always carry "check before you fly" language.
  • History claims cite sources in footnotes where they go beyond common knowledge.

The honesty policy

Every attraction gets a verdict — Must-see, Worth it, If you have time, or Skippable — and we call out tourist traps, inflated pricing and overrated experiences plainly.

Photography

We use original photography, or properly credited licensed images. We never use AI-generated imagery of real places — it would defeat the point of a site built on trust.

Corrections

Anyone can report an error via the correction form. Reports feed the same review queue as scheduled checks, and confirmed corrections go live with the next update.

AI in our workflow

AI tools may assist with structure and drafting. No fact enters a page because a model said so — every checkable claim is verified against an official source or first-hand knowledge by a human before publication.
