大雁塔
Overview
The Big Wild Goose Pagoda (大雁塔) is one of Xi'an's most iconic landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in 652 AD during the Tang Dynasty, the pagoda was originally five stories tall and later expanded to seven stories. It stands 64 meters (210 feet) tall and was designed to hold Buddhist scriptures brought from India by the famous monk Xuanzang.

How to Get There

- • Visit in the evening for the spectacular music fountain show
- • The North Square is free and very impressive
- • Climb to the top for views of modern Xi'an
